Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what happens to your information when you use Isle (the "App"), a habit app where your progress grows into a living island. Isle was designed so that we never need to see what you track. Isle is offered in the United States.
1. Who we are
Isle is developed by Jacopo Giannetti ("we", "us"). For privacy questions and requests, write to privacy@helloisle.app.
2. Your islands
Everything you create in Isle is stored on your device: the names and questions of your habits, whether they are something to build or something to quit, their rhythm and reminder time, your daily answers, the cravings you resisted and the slips you recorded, and the way your island is arranged.
- iCloud. If you are signed in to iCloud, Isle also keeps a copy in your private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit), so your islands come back if you reinstall the App or change iPhone. That database belongs to your Apple Account: Apple encrypts it in transit and at rest, and we have no way to read it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is described in Apple's privacy policy.
- No iCloud. If you are not signed in, or you turn iCloud off for Isle, your islands exist only on that iPhone.
- Nothing else. Your islands are never sent to us, to Superwall, to AppsFlyer, or to anyone else.
The habits you track may say something personal about you — your health, for example, if you are quitting smoking. That is exactly why they never leave your devices and your own iCloud, and why we do not collect any sensitive personal information.
3. Subscriptions (Superwall)
Isle uses Superwall to show subscription offers and to handle purchases and restores through the App Store. Superwall receives:
- a random identifier created on your device, not linked to your name, email or Apple Account;
- device and app information: device model, iOS version, language, region, time zone, app version and IP address;
- how you interact with subscription screens (for example when one is shown or closed, and whether you buy or restore);
- your subscription status and App Store transaction details;
- a few counts used to decide which offer to show: how many islands you have, how many are habits to build or to quit, seeds earned, days since your first island, and the App's language.
Superwall never receives the names, questions or answers of your habits. Payments are processed by Apple: we never receive your card details.
4. Measuring our ads (AppsFlyer)
We tell people about Isle with ads on other platforms (such as Instagram). To know which ads work, Isle uses AppsFlyer, which receives:
- the install and the first opening of the App, and a few steps such as creating your first island and meeting your first animal;
- subscriptions, trials and renewals, with product and price;
- device and app information: device model, iOS version, language, approximate location (country or region) derived from your IP address, app version, and Apple's identifier for vendors (IDFV).
Tracking. After the introduction, iOS asks whether you allow Isle to track you (App Tracking Transparency). If you allow it, AppsFlyer also receives your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) and shares install and subscription events with the advertising platforms where we run our ads (such as Meta), only to measure which ad brought you to Isle. If you decline, the IDFA is never collected, and measurement relies only on Apple's privacy-preserving aggregate reporting (SKAdNetwork), which does not identify you. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
AppsFlyer and the advertising platforms never receive your islands, the names of your habits, or your answers.
5. Notifications
Reminders are scheduled on your iPhone by the App itself. There is no notification server: nothing about your reminders or habits is sent anywhere. You can turn notifications on or off at any time in iPhone Settings.
6. What we do not do
The App shows no ads. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not track you across apps or websites unless you allow it as described in §4. There is no analytics or crash-reporting service besides those described in §3 and §4. Isle does not access your location services, contacts, camera, photos or health data. If you have chosen in iOS Settings to share analytics with developers, Apple may provide us with aggregated crash reports — that is Apple's mechanism and you control it there. Ratings you leave through the in-app prompt are handled entirely by Apple.
7. Who receives information
| Recipient | Why | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Apple | App Store, purchases, iCloud storage | Purchase data; your islands, in your private iCloud |
| Superwall (service provider) | Subscription offers and purchase handling | The information listed in §3 |
| AppsFlyer (service provider) | Install attribution and ad measurement | The information listed in §4 |
| Advertising platforms (such as Meta) | Measuring our own ads | Install and subscription events from AppsFlyer, with the IDFA — only if you allowed tracking |
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and of Isle.
8. How long information is kept
- Your islands: until you delete them. Deleting the App removes the copy on that iPhone; the iCloud copy stays so you can get your islands back.
- Subscription data at Superwall: for as long as needed to provide subscriptions and keep records of purchases.
- Attribution data at AppsFlyer: for as long as needed to measure our campaigns, according to AppsFlyer's retention policy.
- Records required by law (for example transaction records): as long as legally required.
9. Your choices
- Delete everything. In the App, go to Settings → Delete all data. This erases your islands from your iPhone and from your iCloud, and resets the anonymous identifier used by Superwall, so nothing that follows is linked to what came before. It cannot be undone. You can also remove Isle's iCloud data from iPhone Settings, under your name → iCloud → Manage Storage.
- Tracking. Turn it off at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Notifications. Turn them off in iPhone Settings.
- Subscription. It is billed by Apple: deleting your data or the App does not cancel it. Manage or cancel it in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.
10. Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you the rights below. This section is also our notice at collection.
Personal information we collect
In the last 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information, from your device through the services described above and from Apple:
| Category | Examples | Disclosed for a business purpose to | Shared for cross-context behavioral advertising |
|---|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Superwall's anonymous identifier, IDFV, IP address; IDFA only if you allow tracking | Superwall, AppsFlyer | Only if you allow tracking, with advertising platforms via AppsFlyer |
| Commercial information | Subscriptions, trials and renewals | Superwall, AppsFlyer | Only if you allow tracking, with advertising platforms via AppsFlyer |
| Internet or other electronic network activity | Install, first opening, subscription screens you see, steps such as creating your first island | Superwall, AppsFlyer | Only if you allow tracking, with advertising platforms via AppsFlyer |
| Geolocation data | Approximate country or region derived from IP address (never precise location) | Superwall, AppsFlyer | No |
We do not collect sensitive personal information, and we do not use personal information to make inferences about you. We use the information above for the purposes described in §3 and §4, and keep it for the periods in §8.
Sale and sharing
We do not sell personal information for money. When you allow tracking on your iPhone, sending install and subscription events with your advertising identifier to advertising platforms may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. You can opt out at any time by turning off tracking in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, which stops the advertising identifier from being collected at all. You can also write to privacy@helloisle.app with the subject "Do Not Sell or Share".
Your rights
- Know and access: ask what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, why, and who received it, and get a copy.
- Delete: ask us to delete personal information we collected about you.
- Correct: ask us to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Opt out of sale and sharing, as described above.
- Non-discrimination: we will not treat you differently, or charge you a different price, for exercising these rights.
To make a request, write to privacy@helloisle.app. Because Isle has no account, we hold no name or email that identifies you: to help us find the information related to your device, open Settings in the App and include the version shown there, the approximate date you installed Isle, and, if you have a subscription, the date of purchase. We may ask for more details to verify the request, and we will respond within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent; we may ask the agent for proof of authorization and ask you to confirm your identity directly.
Other U.S. states
Residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws (such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas and Oregon) may have similar rights, including the rights to access, correct and delete personal information and to opt out of targeted advertising. You can exercise them the same way, at privacy@helloisle.app. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our answer with the subject "Appeal"; if the appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general.
11. Children (COPPA)
Isle is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, in line with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, write to privacy@helloisle.app.
12. Security
Your islands are protected by your device and by Apple's iCloud security. Information sent to Superwall and AppsFlyer travels over encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
13. Where information is processed
Isle is offered in the United States. Superwall, AppsFlyer, the advertising platforms and Apple process information in the United States and may also process it in other countries, under safeguards required by applicable law.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are significant, we will let you know in the App. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
